Sucsess Stories - Max & Jasper

Max and Jasper

Max and Jasper left us in August and are both doing really well in their lovely new home, they even have their own facebook page!
We got this lovely report from Helen their mummy.

Just to let you know Max and Jasper are both really well and got over their nerves with fireworks, Jasper spent it up on Ben's bed with him and Max spent most of the time hiding between my legs.
Max continues bring economic warrior bring all empty platinum bottles home from his walks and jasper tries to see how long he can avoid going put in the rain. The laurel and hardy of staffies is how we see them.
After some months spent sat in lounge with scarves over our noses we have discovered the boys are better with dry food and it's definitely better for our noses!
Max is a little monkey he is still a needy Norman, if he thinks there is a cuddle to be had or if Jaspie is getting lots is loves he is like a bulldozer pushing his way through and he makes the funniest noise if you stop stroking him.
Jasper takes it all in his stride and sits there with a patient smile as Max licks inside his ear.
If Max has been a scamp and is sent on his bed as a time out he will go and put the smallest amount of bottom on it as if to say well I am on my bed so you can't say anything. He also goes to bed at 9pm it's so funny he just gets up out of the lounge and goes to bed at which point you can almost hear Jasper going thank god my ear can dry out now.
We love them so much they are such characters xx Debating whether we will get them in reindeer hats at Xmas or would they last mere seconds.
The boys are so happy and so close to each other it's lovely to see.

Sucsess Stories - Wally

Wally aka Ronnie

So, Ronnie has now been a member of our family for almost seven weeks and what a rollercoaster those weeks have been!

He has slotted perfectly into our family and our home as though he has always been there, he is very laid back and chilled out until he wants attention and then the lovable playful pup in him is unleashed.
He is very vocal and doesn’t hesitate to let us know he wants feeding, walking, to be let out or general attention. At times we do struggle to stop him from barking, however, we are working on this with him.
He is generally very good, he does not go to the toilet indoors and on the few occasions we have let him alone in the house he hasn’t been too naughty, more mischievous (he emptied his bowl of treats and also emptied the rubbish bin in the kitchen!!)
He does like to chew things, predominantly coat hangers (don’t ask) as he destroys any dog toys he is given within minutes of receiving them, however, he is fine with you taking things he shouldn’t have away from him, although he looks at us with his big brown eyes he is never attempts to bite.
Ron is very patient with the children, from the start we asserted their authority with him, they give him breakfast of a morning so he knows his place in the pecking order, however, her is more than happy to share the sofa with them and have cuddles.
He is becoming a great guard dog as well, as soon as someone sets foot on our driveway he is at the door barking at them, however, as soon as he is happy that they are a welcome visitor he settles down and showers them with affection.
Ronnie does like a bath, we have learnt that when having a bath or a shower the door needs to be shut because Ronnie will join you, whether the water is hot or cold or the bath is occupied or empty he just jumps right in.
He is very good when walking on the lead, we are training him to walk to heel which is coming along nicely and he will also sit at the kerb before crossing the road. He is happy to walk with the children and is happy to meet other dogs as all he wants to do is play. His recall is non-existent, however we knew this when we picked him up and is something we are working on.
We walk him over the South Downs and have a couple of fields behind our house that is fenced off so we let him off the lead in this area as we know it is secure.

Overall Ron is a welcome addition to our family, he has provided the companionship we lost when
our staffy Frank walked over the rainbow bridge. He has provided our daughter with the reassurance that she lost when Frank passed and also the play mate our son was missing. He is a lovable rogue with a cheeky character and mischievous temperament. Although he is a work in progress we wouldn’t be without him now.

However, I would not have been able to write the above had it not been for you fabulous people at Moorview, the job you do is amazing, you are special people with hearts of gold and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us to complete our family. When you handed Ron over to us you were not only giving him a second chance but making our family complete again. Thank you.

Sucsess Stories - Milo

We're fast approaching our first four weeks with Milo so I thought I'd drop you a line and provide you with an update on how Milo is doing in his new home.

It's been an eventful first four weeks to be honest as we have been doing some work on my house so there has been a steady flow of tradesmen through the house which I thought may have been a challenge for Milo. However, he seems to have taken it all in and not really bothered too much. He has made his presence known a couple of times when they have walked in unannounced but nothing too dramatic which is fantastic considering how nervous he was when we first met.

The first thing I really need to stress is what an utterly fantastic and impressive dog he is!! I don't know if it is the breed or because of his previous experience or perhaps a combination of both but we have developed an incredible bond very quickly and he is with me 24/7, he is very responsive to commands and he seems comfortable with his position in our pack. In fact, he slotted straight into the family unit making instant friends with 'Rosie,' my mums American Cocker Spaniel and the kids adore him. He has such a gentle nature and can't get enough cuddles from the family.

We've started a daily training programme with an hours training everyday along with at least an hour chasing his beloved ball either on the beach or at the park. He clearly has had some training in the past and he is so keen to learn new things and picks things up very quickly. You can actually see him problem solving as he figures out what he needs to do. He is a dream to work with and very motivated.

I recently changed his diet to a raw food diet through 'Honeys' and he seems to have adapted instantly and loves his new food. So far, we've been camping and Green Laning in The Lake District and we're off camping in Scotland next week so he now has a full range of winter clothing and equipment to keep him warm in the snow. He currently is the proud owner of his own doggy sleeping bag and mat, he has his own rucksack to carry his kit and supplies, plus a waterproof fleece lined jacket. We're currently working on building our fitness levels ready to hit the hills hiking in January when we'll be doing a week on and a week off hiking around the mountains of the UK.

In short, Milo is now my best friend and loyal companion,  he has a very loving family to take care of him when he is not with me on his adventures! I'm pretty confident if he could write this himself, that he's say his is as happy as can be! :)

Thank you very much for bring us all together!

Love and hugs,

Milo and family

Sucsess Stories - Taz

When Taz first arrived he was very shy and quiet, he would follow you from room to room he didn't like being left in a room alone , he wouldn't go upstairs unless you said he could and he was very skinny .
Now he has put some weight on he's more chilled loves coming over and putting his head on you for cuddles , he's so much more relaxed and seems really happy

x
It felt like he had been here for ever straight away,
He's so loving, he loves watching TV and playing with his ball.
,I cant believe anybody would not want him he's a beautiful dog he's definitely completed out family thank you for letting me adopt him xx

Sucsess Stories - Zena

Well first time I saw Zena on the Moorview page I just fell in love with her I knew she was the one I wanted. We've had her now 10 weeks and it didn't take her long to settle within the first week, she plays with one of our other dogs Ozzy who is 3. As you can see by the photos they have bonded very well to the point where she follows Ozzy and vice versa. Ozzy is trying to
teach her how to play pully with ropes, she's learning quick. She's definitely a mommies girl.. lol There is still a way to go with her and she's keen to learn with treats etc, but she deserves the chance and that is what we can give her.

Sucsess Stories - Dino

Adopting Dino........
We figured it was time to find a playmate for our Chocolate Lab, Sasha, as we were nicely settled in to our new home on a small estate near Harrogate. Should we find a new puppy or rescue? That was the easiest question to answer . . .  'RESCUE!'.
Therefore, after a few enquiries we decided to contact Moor-view with a view to looking at Libby and Dino. After a successful home visit we headed up to meet the dogs. Dino was recommended as a more suitable rescue dog and we took him for a walk around the paddock. What a big boy he was! We really enjoyed our bit of time with him and, after introducing him to our Sasha, decided to take him for the following day and see how things went.
Off to a great start and looking like being a good day. Then the 'Old Girl' Sasha decided she wasn't very enthusiastic about sharing things with her newfound Big Brother. After several snapping incidents we thought that perhaps we were expecting too much from Sasha and that we should return Dino to Moor-view. So, that's exactly what we did. What an emotional time that was.
So along came Sunday and what a miserable day that was too. You see, the dog Dino had really got under our skin and we couldn't stand the thought of being without him and that's why we had to phone on Monday morning to say we were going to adopt him.
And here we are now. We have had a trip to the seaside and introduced Dino to the water, he wasn't that impressed but think the fish and chips went down well. Dino has also got close to our cat, William, but not yet managed to catch him! Sasha is settling down slowly and beginning to accept that she has to share the house and us with Dino. Dino has settled in really well and has turned out to be the most gentle and affectionate dog we have ever known. We are incredibly happy with Dino and can only thank Moor-view for giving us the chance to welcome him into our lives. They rescued Dino at the eleventh hour and helped him find his forever home. They do a really fantastic job!

Luca's Story

Hi, I'm Luca (previously known as Blade), and I wondered if you could help me find a home?

I've waited patiently in two rescues now, and nobody ever comes to see me and I don't know why.  😢 All the nice people in the rescue don't know why either, they say I'm a really lovely dog. 🐶
I did have a home a long time ago when I was about nine months old. I don't know why, but one day they left me and didn't come back, so a rescue centre took me in and looked after me. Everyone was really nice, they took me on walks and played with me, but I missed a warm comfy house and having people around all the time.
I've now been in a rescue for almost a year now, and I keep seeing the other dogs going off to their new homes, but nobody ever comes to see me or asks to take me home and I wonder why that is. 😢
I'm a bit sad to be honest as its no fun not being able to curl up on a sofa or have people to play with all day long. I feel quite lonely spending all my time in a kennel. It feels like its a very long time because dogs have much shorter lives than humans. I have lots of things I would like to be doing like playing with tennis balls and having my tummy tickled all day, that's way more fun than being on my own.
The volunteers here make sure I get lots of attention and they are really trying hard to let people know what I'm like, so I thought i'd give them a hand...
I LOVE tennis balls! The more toys I can try and get in my mouth the better! I never get tired of playing, I have tons of energy and would love a new owner who will give me lots of exercise.  I do get super excited with toys and can get carried away, but the volunteers keep making me sit and wait for my ball or toy or they wont throw it for me so I'm learning to be patient but its so hard!  Sometimes when they want to take me a walk I will decide that I would rather just play in the field, but with a bit of persuasion I do go and enjoy it. I've heard the humans say they like walking me because I don't pull the lead (whatever that means). There are some dogs I'm not keen on in the kennels but its been so long since I've been out to play with another dog, I guess I've kind of forgotten how to. I'd love to learn how to socialise, i just need someone to teach me! Sometimes I see cats around Moorview and I want to chase them but the humans say I cant! They think I should find a home with no cats as I might upset them. I also LOVE dog treats, I get lots of them and I'm very good at being gentle when taking them.  Water and mud are just amazing, I heard the volunteers say I must have some Labrador in me. I don't know what that actually means but I love getting dirty and wet! I also love lots of kisses, especially with Daz - there's even video evidence on Facebook.

So I hope you now understand me a bit better, just ask the humans at Moorview how lovely I am, maybe you can spread the word and help me find a forever home before Christmas? - Luca X

Luca needs an experienced owner prepared to recap the training he has, and allow him to adjust to life out of a kennel again. Luca has spent most of his puppy years in rescue.
Please only apply if you genuinely believe you can give this dog what he needs - a solid secure forever home.
Luca is a great dog, ask any of our volunteers, but he will need time and patience and a strong owner prepared to train him and let him resettle into home life.
Rescue dogs can take up to a year to really settle so if you feel you are up the job then we would love to hear from you.
No cats and no children.

Barnaby's Training

Barnaby's foster family have been taking Barnaby to regular training classes and he has come on fabulously! Barnaby has now mastered: Sit * Lie Down * Stand * Take & Leave (treats) * and 'Look at Me' which is used for focusing your dog and teaching him not to get distracted. He's also being halti trained, which is a special type of harness/lead that stops dogs pulling, and he's making new doggy friends in his class!

Well done Barnaby and his fantastic fosters!

You can find videos of Barnaby's training on our facebook page - www.facebook.com/moorview

Storm's Sleepover

"I had a weekend free so thought it would be nice for Storm to have a night away and get some overnight information on her to help find her a loving new home.

I've finally invested in a boot guard and Storm was very good all the way home. We got back and went for a walk around a field near mine, it was a quiet time for dog walkers so off we went without her muzzle. Storm is strong on the lead but responds well to 'slow down' and a treat to follow. She waited at roadsides and carried on when told. We met a few people without dogs on the field and they asked if they could say hello, I said this was fine as long as I put her in sit first as she might jump up with excitement! Storm sat and gave paw and let people say hello without jumping up (treats are very handy).

We came back home as it was getting late and I had a little surprise waiting for her. I had bought a crate and dog bed to see how she was with these... Also lots of bones! She wasn't sure about the crate at first just going in and coming out... I just left her to it because I wasn't sure if she'd had positive or negative experiences with a crate.

After about half an hour of running around in the garden with toys and bones, it was getting close to bed time. We all had our dinner and Storm was very good and didn't jump up to our food, she just sat and gave us a sad face. We ignored this and she went and laid down next to the radiator. Once we had finished and started to wash up Storm came in and laid down in her crate happy and tired.

We went out at 10:30pm for a quick toilet and then she came straight back and into the crate so I closed it for the night. All night she was silent - not a little peep! Storm gets 10 out of 10!  We were all dry and clean in the morning and I got up to let her out at 8am and then she went back into her crate whilst I showered and got ready for our walk.

We went out to the Stray and enjoyed walking on the big fields - lots to smell. Again, she pulls on the lead but can be slowed down with treats. We walked past lots of other dogs and people and she was very good. We visited my gym in Hornbeam Park (BigKat Central) and Storm was good as gold without the muzzle, she sat and let everyone fuss over her. All the comments were how gentle she was and how soft natured she was... They loved her!

Sunday is my cleaning day and whilst I was doing this, I gave Storm a meat filled bone which kept her occupied for 2 hours... In her crate (opened) so felt happy in there. I had the back door open and Storm got up to go for a couple of wees and was back in with her bone. Storm enjoyed just wondering around in the house and settled really well.

This little pup is absolutely adorable, toilet trained, crate trained, loving, gentle and a little mad...with a few training sessions on lead walking and stop jumping with excitement she will be perfect.

Please help us find her a forever loving home she deserves.
