Last weekend saw 3 of our favourite dogs find their forever homes!
While we’re always sad to see them leave, it’s fantastic knowing that they’ve all gone home with their new humans.
I’d like to say a massive thank you for last night to everyone who supported the Hollywood Ball I organised for the rescue last night. This event raised (after costs) £4,188 which is just amazing and exceeded the fundraising from any of my previous events.
Can’t quite believe it !!!
You were a fabulous crowd!
Thank you to all the people who sponsored it and donated prizes x- Michelle Hennon - Event Coordinator
We desperately need volunteers to bake for our Halloween bake sale on Sunday 29th October 2018. Please contact Katie at katieleeabbott20@live.co.uk if you can help.
On Sunday 30th September, volunteers (Katie & Naomi) will be hosting the Moorview Rescue stand at SYD Follifoot Summer Fair and Dog Show!
The event is open from 11am-4pm and there will be a variety of stalls, raffles and games to play. There will also be refreshments including a bar, cake sale and BBQ.
The event is suitable for all the family so we hope to see you there!
With this warmer weather approaching, we were wondering if any of our lovely supporters had an old paddling pool we could have, or would like to order a few for the dogs to play in and cool down after their walks. Water guns too would be great fun for the dogs.
If you can help, please contact the rescue directly or post to: -

Hi! I'm Lulu!
I have been at Moorview Rescue for almost a year now, and none of the rescue volunteers can understand why as I am such a lovely girl. They think I am about seven or eight years old, and possibly some sort of St Bernard crossbreed; possibly Labrador with a hint of bull breed too. I certainly love the snow so I have that in common with a St Bernard!
A lot of people have been put off because of my size, but I’m not that big ☹️ I'm probably about the size of Labrador.
I am a fantastic houseguest. I'm clean, non-destructive, and just want to snuggle on the sofa. I can be left on my own for reasonable periods of time, so Moorview would consider someone who worked full time.
In terms of training I know it all, all the commands like sit, paw, down, kisses, roll over and wait. Although I'm still a bit rust on come back 😂 Moorview think Iwasn't ever let off lead as my recall is rubbish 😂 .
I love exercise so big quiet walks are brilliant. I like to go to a secure enclosed field and run free off lead.
I'm generally good on the lead but when things take me by surprise I can get anxious and pull and bark. I saw two horses last week and it spooked me but Michelle one of the volunteers, managed to distract me with treats as I love them!
The main issue you might have with me is round other dogs. I am very selective about which dogs I like and which I don't like, which makes me a bit tricky to predict. So, to keep me and other dogs safe, they suggest that I wear a muzzle and not be let off lead unless in a secure enclosure.
At Moorview, I regularly walk with other dogs who they introduce me to carefully. I love going out with them especially Rory, but I can bark and pull when I see other dogs. This is through fear and stress, so my new owner will need to be prepared for this and be able to physically manage me. Moorview say this can be improved with regular and consistent training.
I have also been off lead with a dog here and been fine, but there are dogs I definitely do not like, so I need an owner who can carefully manage this. That really is the only issue a new owner may have with me.I’m also quite prey driven so Moorview said I shouldn't be rehomed with any other pets including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs etc .
I am amazing with people and I love everyone I meet, especially when they give me lots of fuss. I get lots of walks and toys and treats, but being alone in the kennels is no fun and I really want a family of my own. I've been here almost a year now and seen so many friends come and go... why does no one want me?
Please can you help me? Moorview have literally tried EVERYTHING now with no joy. I've been visiting my local Pets at Home store to fundraise, I've been in the newspaper and on the TV, I've even got my own 2018 calendar, but nothing seems to work!
Please tell all your friends far and wide, my family must be out there somewhere, it's just a case of waiting I guess....
Sydney was adopted just over a month ago, so we checked in with his new family to see how he was setting in.
"We adopted Sydney 6 weeks ago now and we wouldn't change him for the world. He is such a loving little dog, so good with everyone he meets. Yes... he has a few little problems. Being a rescue dog it's only to be expected, but we're working through them. He hated going for walks in the dark when we got him, so slowly we started to take him out just before dark and kept him out longer while it got dark. Now he's getting better at going out when it is dark. When he's playing he snaps a little so we're slowly trying to get him out of this by turning away from him when he does it - he's learning. He is also not so good with some dogs. He's fine with most dogs, it seems to be by black dogs for some reason. Were trying to sort this one. This one is a little more difficult. I have to say though all in all he is an absolute little star. So gentle and well trained around the house. We love him so much. He comes to us when we speak his name, sits when asked, and gives a paw too. He just loves to play with us and the children that visit. Never overlook an older dog as Sydney has plenty of energy. He has made our family complete."
All pets use the garden. Like us, it gives them freedom and makes for happier pets. Some have been known to tear up the garden, but most of the time they’re doing us a favour. Cats and dogs are great at keeping furry pests away from homegrown vegetables and we want them to be able to roam free and explore their surroundings.
Although most pets will naturally love the outdoors, various complications like allergies and other animals can impact their time outdoors. Not to mention what they might do to your plant beds. But, what’s the best solution? It wouldn’t be fair or right, to keep any pet cooped up inside all day, even if it’s for their own good. But there are ways to make our garden a friendlier environment for our beloved pets
